What kind of Shapewear are you looking for?
Is an all-in-one piece. It has a supportive top and smooths, shapes, or sculpts the torso, sometimes even extending down to the thighs! It features built-in shaping panels to contour your silhouette. It can be worn as shapewear or by itself.
Is like a bodysuit, but it has a “wear-your own-bra” design. A body shaper contours the tummy, waist, back, and even thighs, but the bust remains uncovered, letting you wear the bra of your choice.
This category includes shaper panties, shaper shorts, and compression leggings. Shaper bottoms smooth, shape, and sculpt your lower half. They focus on the waist, hips, thighs, and butt to highlight your curves.
We carry many different kinds of shapewear, including some that aren’t included in this list. For those specialty pieces, please refer to the size chart on the product page to find your perfect size.
Step 1: Bust
To measure your bust size, take a measuring tape and wrap it around your torso, measuring
your chest at the point where it sticks out the most. You can measure it in inches or centimeters,
whatever you’re most comfortable with.
Step 2: Hips
Take that measuring tape and wrap it around your hips at their widest point. You can also
measure this in inches or centimeters, your choice!

Have a question about shapewear? Here are some of the questions people ask our Body Contouring Experts all the time!
If you’re wearing the right size shapewear, it shouldn’t give you a muffin top, because you shouldn’t be spilling out of it. If you know you’re wearing the right size, but you’re still dealing with muffin top, consider trying a high-waisted shaper panty; if more of your torso is covered and compressed, you’ll get more of a streamlined look.
You may think that sizing down your shapewear – that is, wearing a smaller size than what you usually wear – will give you more of a shaping effect. That’s not true! Always wear shapewear in the size you normally wear, or in the size you found using our size charts. You want it to be comfortable and to fit like a glove. Sizing down will make you super uncomfortable, plus it will cause bulges in places you don’t want them. Too-small shapewear can even cut off your circulation!
Most of our shapewear has what’s called an open gusset, or a hole cut out between the legs. Don’t worry – it’s supposed to be there! An open gusset makes bathroom trips easier because you can do your business through the hole instead of having to take the whole shaper off every time.
It’s up to you. If you’re wearing a shaper panty, adding an additional layer of underwear will probably end up looking bulky, so you may not want to do that.
But if you’re wearing a body shaper, for example, you may want to wear underwear with it for extra coverage. If you do, always put the underwear on OVER the body shaper so that you can still go to the bathroom easily. Taking off a panty is much easier than taking off the whole body shaper!
No! Contrary to what some people think, shapewear isn’t supposed to be a torture device. It’s supposed to fit snugly, but it’s not supposed to dig in or squeeze you too hard. If your shapewear is uncomfortable, you may want to try a different style, a lighter compression level, or a size up. Don’t suffer for fashion!
Good news: shapewear is safe to wear daily. In fact, many of our employees wear shapewear every day for a boost of confidence at the office! However, unless otherwise directed by a doctor (for example, for post-surgical compression), don’t sleep in your shapewear or wear it for a long time (over 8 hours) in one go.
Here at Leonisa, we’re not in the business of telling you what you can and can’t wear. However, some shapers work better as outerwear than others. For example, our Sheer Instinct body shaper was specially designed to be worn by itself or under an outfit.
P.S. Shapewear-as-outerwear looks are trending, so stay tuned – we’re developing some new options!
Yes, the fabric your shapewear is made out of matters. You want to choose shapewear made of soft, stretchy, breathable fabrics that stay cool and move with you. Luckily, each one of our signature high-tech fabrics do all that and more!
If you know the word shapewear, you may also be familiar with another famous moniker: fajas colombianas, or Colombian shapewear. Before shapewear became world famous, the first fajas were created in Colombia as post-surgical recovery garments. Because Colombian compression garments were originally made for medical purposes, they became famous for their exceptionally high quality and cutting-edge technology.
As a Colombian company with a global reach, Leonisa is dedicated to spreading the word of fajas colombianas all around the world!
We make shapewear in a full range of silhouettes, including bodysuits, body shapers, shaper shorts, shaper panties, and everything in between. A general tip to find the right shapewear for your outfit is to just consider what’s covered by your clothes and what isn’t. Choose shapewear that won’t stick out or look awkward under your clothes.
But we also make shapewear for specific outfits. If you often feel personally victimized by thigh rub, shaper shorts are a go-to under dresses because they have anti-chafing power. If you’re wearing a backless dress, we make a plunge back shaper short just for that occasion. And if you’re looking for shapewear to wear under a wedding outfit, check out our bridal shapewear selection!
SkinFuse® is our lightest shaping fabric and pieces made of this material tend to have mesh cutouts in strategic locations – for example, in the butt, to avoid flattening. Always handle SkinFuse® shapewear with care: use your fingertips, not your nails, to pull it up. Don’t grab this shapewear by the mesh; maneuver the fabric around the mesh instead.
In short, yes!
We sell a full line of post-surgical compression garments that use strategic compression to help reduce swelling, decrease bruising, and protect the surgical site. We also have a line of postpartum compression garments that support your body as it changes.
If you’re embarking on a rapid weight loss journey, such as with modern medicines like Ozempic, you will definitely benefit from shapewear. When you lose weight, you will probably end up with loose skin. This is because your skin has lost elasticity and isn’t able to shrink down to fit your changing body. Wearing a full-coverage compression garment will keep that loose skin in place, plus it will enhance your curves!
